Holism (from ὅλος holos, a Greek word meaning all, entire, total) is the idea that all the properties of a given system (biological, chemical, social, economic, mental, linguistic, etc.) cannot be determined or explained by the sum of its component parts alone. Instead, the system as a whole determines in an important way how the parts behave.

The general principle of holism was concisely summarized by Aristotle in the Metaphysics: "The whole is more than the sum of its parts".

My Cocker Spaniel puppy had horrible gas from the puppy chow I was originally feeding. After some research I decided to try this limited ingredient food. No more gas! And he really loves it. Thanks Pinnacle! The only thing I'd feel even better about would be the inclusion of organic ingredients in this holistic product.

Pinnacle Holistic - Trout & Sweet Potato

Reaching New Heights in Pet Nutrition

It sounds like an entrée at a fine restaurant, fresh trout and delicious sweet potatoes. But these are also a fine and delicious source of nutrition and that makes Pinnacle an excellent choice for active puppies and adult dogs. Good nutrition is about variety, and the variety of protein sources in Pinnacle —the trout, the potatoes, plus oatmeal and the organic grain quinoa— means all essential amino acids are here. It also means that complex carbohydrates, essential for energy, come from a variety of sources as well.

2. Heidi on 7/7/2009, said:

We could not be happier with this Pinnacle Holistic food! We didn't realize our yellow lab had a sensitive stomach until we switched him to this food and immediately noticed the absence of nightly dog farts. We hadn't given any thought to the fact that his food was causing the gas issue but now that the problem is solved, we wish we had realized it sooner!

3. Krista on 7/2/2009, said:

Great ingredients, but smelly gas

4. Gwynne on 7/1/2009, said:

I wanted to try oatmeal again with my Boston whom I have had on no grain dog food for awhile. I wanted to see if she would have problems with oatmeal. I was pleasantly surprised. And I was even more surprised by the excellent service of K-9. I will continue to order from you in the future!!!!

5. Marsha on 6/22/2009, said:

My Yorkie has allergies and chews on her feet constantly, and the use of this product helps to ease her chewing.

2. Stephanie on 8/20/2009, said:

I have a Great Dane puppy and an English Bulldog puppy on this food and they both are doing wonderful on the food. I like the fact that it is grain free, but the protein levels are not too high for large breed dogs. They love the taste and their stools have been firm since the first feeding.

3. Alexandra on 8/11/2009, said:

Puppies didn't love it, I had to entice to get them to even start eating it. Not worth the effort, ingredients are inferior to Orijen Puppy.

4. Renee on 4/7/2009, said:

My puppy really likes it and seems to be doing very well with it. She's a high energy border collie pup and this keeps her at a good weight.

5. Melanie on 2/4/2009, said:

The food was fine however the expiration date was not. I received a bag of food in January with and expiration date of March 09.

The kibbles are small so my medium-sized dog doesn't do much chewing. Taste-wise she seems to like it. It's not easy to find a grain-free, reduced fat kibble!

Sodium Selenite is listed as an ingredient, and if you do any research this is toxic to pets.

Not particularly palatable, but my dog will finally eat it by day's end. It's clearing up his skin problems, so I'll stick with it!

Dogs really enjoy this food!! Leaves their coat so shiny and soft, I get a lot of compliments. Dog food rates 105 out of 100!!! My only complaint is that is leaves their stools soft, but my vet says GOOD dog food will do that.

Started my 9 year old Cocker Spaniel on Nature's Variety Freeze Dried Raw products a few years ago as a way to ease her allergies. She gets 2 for breakfast with some kibble & cleans her bowl. We use Nature's Variety canned products for dinner (with kibble) and her scratching issues have subsided quite a bit! Excellent products, quality ingredients!
