Holism (from ὅλος holos, a Greek word meaning all, entire, total) is the idea that all the properties of a given system (biological, chemical, social, economic, mental, linguistic, etc.) cannot be determined or explained by the sum of its component parts alone. Instead, the system as a whole determines in an important way how the parts behave.

The general principle of holism was concisely summarized by Aristotle in the Metaphysics: "The whole is more than the sum of its parts".

Your pets are meat eaters, so raw food is the most instinctive and natural form of nutrition they can eat. A diet consisting of raw, fresh meat, organs, ground bone, and fat reflects what they would eat in nature. With natural proportions of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, proteins, and amino acids, raw diets provide wholesome nutrition for the health of your pets. The natural results of such high quality nutrition include increased energy, toned muscles, and a soft, glossy coat!

1. Bonnie on 8/7/2009, said:

Fritz loves it and it seems to agree with him. I haven't done any research as of yet on raw food for dogs but, intend to do so. I'm wondering if it's a good thing that there's less residue creating less poop, of course. Right now I'm feeding him half of the suggested amount of the raw lamb and half of the suggested daily amount of Origen. I'm doing this partially because I think the dry food is probably better for keeping his teeth clean. Luckily, he eats the raw first because he apparently prefers it and them eats the dry. I feed him half and half at the same meal twice a day.

My two dogs (boxers) love this food. I give them each a half a patty every other day and just decrease their dry food by 1 cup. They scarf this down and I feel better supplementing their processed food with something REAL! We haven't had any digesting upset with this slow switch.

ORIJEN Made in Canada

ORIJEN Puppy Food - Biologically Appropriate for All Breeds and Sizes
By nature, puppies are facultative carnivores - they thrive on a varied diet of meats with smaller amounts of fruits, vegetables and grasses, and are biologically adapted to process proteins as an energy source.

High in protein and low in carbohydrate, ORIJEN PUPPY's grain-free formula replicates the same rich and diverse balance of meats, fruits, vegetables and grasses that puppies and young dogs would encounter in a wilderness setting.

Fresh Regional Ingredients - Deboned chicken, chicken meal, turkey meal, russet potato, lake whitefish, chicken fat, sweet potato, whole eggs, turkey, salmon meal, salmon and anchovy oils, salmon, natural chicken flavour, sunflower oil, sun-cured alfalfa, dried brown kelp, carrots, spinach, peas, tomatoes, apples, psyllium, dulse, glucosamine Hcl, cranberries, black currants, rosemary extract, chondroitin sulfate, sea salt.

Tonic Herbs and Botanicals - Chicory root, licorice root, tumeric root, funugreek, marigold flowers, sweet fennel, zea mays, peppermint leaf, chamomile flowers, dandelion, summer savory, rosehips.

Biologically Appropriate ORIJEN PUPPY naturally nourishes puppies of all breeds and sizes. This high-protein, low-carbohydrate puppy food mirrors the original canine diet and naturally satiates appetite - so expect to feed less than you would of conventional pet foods.

My dog's pick in a 12 food taste test! Out of all the foods he sampled, he ate this one with the most enthusiasm and this was the first he finished. Only wish is that this food came in a small bites size! He did struggle a bit with the large size of the kibbles (although that didn't keep him from eating it).

5. Rachel on 7/6/2009, said:

Inspite of the fact that I fed it to my Pekes gradually, Ihad to wash butts once or twice daily and scrub out poop from my kennel. Every time Iwent out there was poop all over the place.Ieven had to give one dog Kaopectate because her's got so bad. Iquit using it and they got o.k. Maybe Igot a bad bag. Idon't know, but am very dissappointed.
