1. Jane on 8/5/2009, said:

This food is great. We have been feeding our golden retriever Eagle Brand for years. She is a healthy and active 13 yrs. and 8 months old. She deserves the best and we think this food helps us give it to her.

2. Karen on 7/17/2009, said:

This was recommended to me by the Great Dane Lady, who has spent her life researching canine nutrition - and not as her business - just for her love of dogs. My Cavaliers have eaten this product for 2 years now and they are doing wonderful at 9-1/2 and 12 years of age.

3. Gracie on 5/18/2009, said:

My doggie loves this food. He's a 9 year old Shih-Tzu and has eaten Holistic Select in all flavors and configurations for almost 7 years.

4. Ellen on 5/4/2009, said:

My dogs love it, even the fussy eater!

5. Sherri on 3/18/2009, said:

Since we put our Senior Lab on this food it is like having a puppy again. The vet can not believe how healthy and fit our 11 year old dog is.

Sudden changes in diet can sometimes result in digestive disturbances. Do not overfeed regardless of the pet’s acceptance and eagerness. Overfeeding is the most common cause of digestive upset. Always introduce any new diet over a period of days, mixing with the present diet. Keep fresh water available at all times and offer plenty of exercise.

my Boykin Spaniel has severe allergies.(vomiting, loss of coat) Tried the Blue Buffalo brand, he loved it but wouldn't eat the blueberries, so they were always all over the floor. He doesn't like Nature's variety as well, but no blueberries, and he tolerates it very well. Think I will try a different flavor next time.

Two out of my three dogs eat this and seem to love it. Plus, their coats are very healthy.

2. Vicki on 8/21/2009, said:

Wonderful food for any dog. I am a petsitter and noticed when any dog ate this food, they didn't get loose bowels from eating a new food. My dogs love it too.

3. Gina on 2/5/2009, said:

A very nice food. The one dog with allergies experienced no reactions, his ears and skin are great. The other two have no allergy issues but are a little fussier and did not like the venison as much as the other protein sources offered by this manufacturer.

4. Susan on 2/25/2008, said:

I believe venison is now my dogs' favorite flavor of food.

My pomeranian deals with occasional colitis, so I've tried to find her a high quality food that doesn't contain any unnecessary grains for a dog's diet. Although she still seems to have these episodes, she loves the food and I will continue to use this brand.

2. John on 6/17/2009, said:

Our Basset has some kind of food allergy we are trying to narrow down. Certain foods upset her bodies balance and cause excess ear drainage & build up. We've tried Science Diet ZD, Wellness Core Reduced Fat & this one. So far this is the only one that seems to be a little more agreeable with her. It would have been rated 5 stars, but it causes her & our other Basset slight constipation & excessive gas.

It is now well established that high intake of protein and fat during growth can lead to health problems in adult dogs. Obesity and skeletal disorders, especially hip dysphasia are more common ailments associated with excesses. Rapid growth can result in excessive muscle mass putting strain on immature bones.

Free Feeding is not Recommended.
Dog should be fed to satisfy energy requirement and no more.
Variations on the amounts below are dependant on age, if neutered or spayed and amount of exercise etc

Weight of dog
2 – 11 lbs          ¼ - ½ cup
11 – 22lb           ½ - 1 cup
22 – 44lb           1 – 1 ¾ cups
44 – 66lb           1 ¾ - 2 ½ cups
66 – 110lbs        2 ½ - 3 ½  cups
Feeding amounts are measured by an 8 oz. kitchen measuring cup.

My american bulldog has been on this for 2 months now. Unfortunately, he has loose really smelly stools, some diarhea, and lots of gas on it. I will have to try something else which is not good since I did so much research thinking Orijen was the best food. It seems like it is kinda luck of the draw with these foods. His skin is really soft, he has lots of energy, and his nails grow really fast though.

2. Neftali on 10/28/2009, said:

Shadow loves his Orijen puppy food. He gives it 5 barks. I noticed he has more energy and his fur is thicker and shinier.

3. Geoffrey on 9/16/2009, said:

Unfortunately, my dog (7-month lab puppy) never got used to this product. I stuck with it for about 1 month, but he continued to have very loose stool. I switched him to Wellness Super5Mix, and his stool was quickly back to normal.

My dog's pick in a 12 food taste test! Out of all the foods he sampled, he ate this one with the most enthusiasm and this was the first he finished. Only wish is that this food came in a small bites size! He did struggle a bit with the large size of the kibbles (although that didn't keep him from eating it).

5. Rachel on 7/6/2009, said:

Inspite of the fact that I fed it to my Pekes gradually, Ihad to wash butts once or twice daily and scrub out poop from my kennel. Every time Iwent out there was poop all over the place.Ieven had to give one dog Kaopectate because her's got so bad. Iquit using it and they got o.k. Maybe Igot a bad bag. Idon't know, but am very dissappointed.

Our dog has only been eating this food for a short time. She had gotten an allergy shot right before I got it so I don't know which has helped alleviate some of the scratching. I do know this has given her TERRIBLE gas!!! I don't know which is worse--scratching or the smell!

Puppies usually begin eating solid food at 4-6 weeks of age. Food should be moistened with water, milk, or broth. Feed puppies three times a day until four months of age. Then feed two times a day thereafter. We recommend splitting the following daily amounts (cups) between two or three feedings. For larger breed puppies, we recommend our Wolf Cub Large Breed Puppy brand.

Solid Gold is excellent food - but it caused my Lab to have gas & stinky poop. K9Cuisine is a super company -not only did they email me my lost purchase receipt, they immediately issued a refund.
