Our treats are made in the United States in a USDA-inspected facility using human-grade meats that are USDA inspected or approved and fish that is FDA approved. The meats come from a variety of farms; the fish is wild caught.
We have our products freeze-dried by the same facilities that freeze dry foods for human consumption and therefore are under strict USDA inspection and supervision (Oregon Freeze-Dry Albany, Oregon and Freeze-Dry Foods, Inc. Albion, NY). Unlike biscuit or jerky manufacturers whose treats can be made in any location by anyone without any oversight, our treats have built-in quality control that meets standards fit for human consumption.

About the freeze-drying process: "Freeze-drying" is a unique process that provides product characteristics that cannot be achieved with any other food processing method. We start by using fresh or cooked foods then flash freeze them in a special vacuum chamber that reaches -50°F. As low-level heat is applied (much less than dehydrating), the ice crystals evaporate without going back to the liquid phase. This process, called "sublimation", removes approximately 98% of the moisture and prevents the food from spoiling-- the ultimate long term storage.
Why is freeze-dried important? Freeze-drying provides very unique benefits and advantages over other food processing methods. Frozen foods maintain their fresh flavor, but they must remain frozen. Dehydrated and canned foods are shelf-stable, but their high-temperature processing reduces their flavor, texture, color, and nutrients. What is Cervena? Cervena is premium farmed venison from New Zealand. Cervena is distinguished from all other venison by the trademarked assurance that the meat has been naturally raised and processed in licensed Cervena plants according to internationally recognized quality standards.

These are a bit weird, since they are dry and fluffy, yet they smell pretty potently. The dogs seem to like them, but I use them sparingly, and may not re-order them due to their price and odor.

My dog loves these treats and sometimes I add them to her food. The only downside is that they crumble and it is hard to put them in your pockets when you want to have a treat at hand.

The dogs love the taste of these treats, but if you are planning on using a bait bag or put the bag in your purse they crush easily. If you aren't careful they crush into a coarse powder and crumbs.
