WildSide Pet Products
WildSide Pet Products was conceived in the summer of 1999. Their background was in wholesale seafood sales from Alaska and Debbie was working directly with the public in the Restaurant business. They each loved animals, she, a cat person and Rick was a dog guy.
They combined their skills and love of animals. Now what? Could they figure out a way to get the nutritional benefits of Raw Wild Alaskan Salmon for pets into a form that would make economical sense? Keeping their day jobs, they set out on their journey to educate the world, one dog and cat at a time. It wasn’t long before their initial partner gave up the ghost and went back to her job full time. Countless hours of phone calls, internet and travel had taken their toll, and with a very questionable future ahead, she left for the safer confines of a steady paycheck. Debbie and Rick continued to explore new processing and packaging techniques as well as doing continuous market research. They produced a few small batches; hand cut and hand packed, and went out on the road in search of their customers. Good thing these treats were human quality salmon! There were plenty of those days when they felt that they would need to eat them just so they could afford to keep trying.
Initially they were only marketing to the canine community (anybody still remember WAGS ?) but after several complaints from dog owners that their CATS were eating all the treats, they shifted their thinking and began the march toward marketing for both dogs & cats. Ahhh, the light at the end of the tunnel was near. They were growing! Folks loved the product, the packaging, and the fact that they could be used for both dogs and cats.
Sales began to grow and they have never looked back. Several prototypes later, they created a system that allows them to produce amazing treats, from WildSideSalmon and WildSideSalmon Oil, to their new upcoming WildSideLobster and WildSideKangaroo treats. They're constantly striving to create new and exciting packaging as well as new products that can be healthy for both cats & dogs. They're a small, family run company with dreams of changing the way they look at animal nutrition, one dog and cat at a time.
