Philosophy Nature's Variety believes many commercially available diets targeted at life stages or special needs (e.g., puppy, senior, large breed, weight control) are in effect formulation corrections designed to overcome nutritional deficiencies inherent in largely grain based diets. Meat protein is the first ingredient in each formula. Meat proteins make up over 40% of the ingredients in each production batch of Nature’s Variety. Most dry kibble diets are 25 to 30% meat or meat and bone products with some formulations even containing less than 10% or even no meat products. I use this to feed my exotic cats as its the same as cat food ingredients wise though I do notice there is more liquid in the dog food than the cat food. My cats seem to like the cat food better though I know there isnt supposed to be a difference and since it only comes in smaller cans I buy the dog food. The lamb is what my nursing queens seem to like best at this time though they are finicky.

Dogs enjoyed it, but when I had to save half a can overnight in the fridge, it turned a hard clay consistency. I ran hot water over the can to get it to come out. Expensive.

The millet is not digested by any of my dogs, I pick up after my dogs in the backyard and could find what looked like gravel in the poops...and it is the millet or some type of grain in this dog food. Also had more diareah-like poops with this food, the other Prairie canned are fine...this one not so much.
