Dogswell
History
Motivated by the philosophy, "DOGS ARE FAMILY TOO!" , DOGSWELL strives to create products with functional benefits for four-legged family members everywhere.
Founded in 2004 by Marco Giannini, DOGSWELL was the first company to fortify chicken jerky for dogs. With each treat delivering a unique functional benefit, DOGSWELL has been able to take a commodity, chicken jerky treats, and diversify it by providing five distinctive formulations in pure, all-natural meat treats that now include duck breast jerky, lamb & rice treats and beef liver treats.
What won't you find in DOGSWELL treats?: NO hormones, NO antibiotics, NO byproducts, NO wheat, NO corn, NO added salt or sugar.
DOGSWELL... FOR YOUR DOG'S WELL-BEING
Our President and Founder, Marco Giannini, is a native of the San Francisco bay area and has been immersed in the entrepreneurial world all his life. His grandfather first operated grocery stores in the 1920’s, and his father has been privately practicing medicine for over 40 years. Influenced by his father’s medical background and his grandfather’s entrepreneurial spirit, Marco knew at an early age that his love for animals would set the course for his life. He attended the University of Southern California and completed his MBA with a concentration in Entrepreneurial Studies. During this time, Marco also received the Best Business Plan Award and Marcia Israel Curly Award, both in 2003.

We have USDA permits and we have permits in every state in the U.S. In addition to the permits, the department of the USDA called APHIS specifically monitors pet treats and conducts random inspections. Furthermore, we test all of our treats at an independent third-party, FDA-approved laboratory in the United States.
Every batch of our product is tested for melamine, bacteria, pesticides and other contaminants. Our products do not contain melamine or rice protein concentrate and we have verified this through an independent, third-party, FDA-approved U.S. laboratory. Our material suppliers are certified clean and clear of any contaminants. We do NOT source any of our ingredients from Import-Pinyang Pet Product Co. or Shanghai Bestro, the two facilities involved in the most recent industry issues regarding melamine in chicken jerky sold at Wal-Mart. We do NOT source any of our ingredients from Binzhou Futian Biological Technology, the manufacturer of the contaminated rice protein concentrate, nor do we purchase any ingredients from Wilbur-Ellis.
The DOGSWELL® facility is designed to prevent cross – contamination, and it meets the highest and most strict sanitary conditions to ensure raw meat and raw meat juices or contaminants do not come into contact with cooked meat at any time during the cooking or packaging process, thus eliminating the possibility of any type of salmonella infection. Moreover, we use only all-natural chicken breast. Salmonella is one of the easiest contaminants to prevent. Salmonella is killed after 23 seconds at 160 degrees.
DOGSWELL® cooks all of our chicken jerky products at 160 degrees for ten hours. While some manufacturers choose a quicker “flash cooking process” to irradiate their products,
DOGSWELL® cooks all products much longer than the flash cooking process.
