Calories: This food contains 3,570 kcal per kilogram or 407 kcal per cup ME (metabolizable energy) on an as fed basis (calculated).

Transitioning to Wellness: It is important to slowly transition your dog from his/her current diet as it takes a few days for the body to adapt to the new nutrient levels. To transition, gradually mix in the new food over a 5-7 day period, increasing the amount of Wellness each day, so that you are feeding 100% Wellness by day 7.

Determining Feeding Portions: Looking at the chart below, divide the total cups per day by the total number of times you feed your dog per day to determine the portion size for each meal. Keep a clean bowl of fresh water available at all times. Wellness believes in feeding dry and wet food in combination whenever possible to help increase the level of water in your dog's diet.

Nutrition is only one part of the equation! Be sure to give your dog plenty of love, plenty of exercise and see your veterinarian regularly to help ensure total wellness.

Recommended Feeding Portions (Based on a standard 8 oz dry measuring cup)

Every dog is a little different, so optimal feeding amounts may vary with age, size and activity level. Please use the information below as an initial recommendation only and adjust when needed.

  WEIGHT OF DOGS (LBS)   CUPS/DAY
  3-17 ¼ - 1
  18-23 1 - 1¼
  24-45 1 ¼ - 2
  46-65 2 - 2 ½
  66-85 2 ½ - 3
  86-105 3 - 3 ½
  106-125 3 ½ - 4

For dogs over 125 lbs:
Add ¼ cup per additional 10 lbs.
For Puppies and Pregnant or Nursing Dogs:
Feed 25% more than the amounts listed.

Combination Feeding
If feeding with wet food, reduce dry amount by 1/3 cup for every 6 oz of wet food.

Our dogs were eating Pedagree and my Lab had urinary problems and anxiety problems. Trying to find a dog food that didn't have corn, wheat and soy in the first 3 ingredients proved to be expensive. Wellness has turned my Lab around and I also feel confident having my Assie eating it too. And I doesn't cost $200 a month to feed my 2 dogs

Great dog food although my dog would rather not have to eat kibble with his chicken.

Our 6 year old Golden Retriever loves it. Only drawback... after we initiated, gradually, the product to his diet, very soft stools that still continues after 4 weeks.

We LOVE this dog food, hope you always offer it, have a 18-month old lab and one who is 10. Highly recommended by our vet.

Dog didn't like it, and he likes everything. Actually picked around it to get to the mixed food.

9. Amy on 4/14/2009, said:

So far my dog really likes this food. She will even eat it without having to use a topper. The ingredients are great especially since they stopped using menadione sodium bisulfite complex in their dry food. I would not even consider buying a "premium" dog food that has a synthetic vitamin K in it. Thank you Wellness for eliminating the menadione sodium bisulfite complex.
