Freeze Dried Green Beef Tripe - Made from our HPP "Fresh Frozen Green Tripe", our Freeze Dried version has all of the same health enhancing qualities as the fresh frozen. Plus the added convenience of traveling with raw meat without the need for refrigeration, it is also a very effective training tool and reward. We recommend the same reconstituting process and handling as outlined for our HPP "Beef Complete" when feeding for dinner.
Tripe is the fourth chamber of the stomach, called the abomasum, of ruminating (hooved, 4 footed, grazing mammal, i.e. cattle, buffalo, sheep, deer, goats, etc.) animals. This is where the food is mixed with gastric juices, amino acids and other digestive enzymes. After the solid matter of Green Tripe is digested, the gastric juices and digestive enzymes continue to aid the animal in digesting and efficiently utilizing his food over the next several meals.
Green (not referring to the color, but meaning that it has not been processed) tripe has a calcium:phosphorous ratio of 1:1, the overall pH is on the acidic side, better for digestion, and contains Essential Fatty Acids, Linoleic and Linoienic in their recommended proportions. There are also trace minerals such as Iron, Zinc, Selenium, Magnesium and Lactic Acid Bacteria.
Lactic Acid Bacteria, also known as Lactobacillus Acidophillus, is the good intestinal bacteria. It is the main ingredient in probiotics. All of this makes HPP "Fresh Frozen Green Tripe" a super food, so we recommend making Green Tripe part of your animal's diet.
A balanced diet with variety consists of a base diet with other sources of protein added at various intervals and degrees. HPP offers extras to be added to our base diet periodically throughout the feeding cycle. A typical diet might have extras added as the main meal 2 or 3 days per week with the base diet being offered all other days.
