Sudden changes in diet can sometimes result in digestive disturbances. Do not overfeed regardless of the pet’s acceptance and eagerness. Overfeeding is the most common cause of digestive upset. Always introduce any new diet over a period of days, mixing with the present diet. Keep fresh water available at all times and offer plenty of exercise.

1. Bonnie on 8/7/2009, said:

Fritz loves it and it seems to agree with him. I haven't done any research as of yet on raw food for dogs but, intend to do so. I'm wondering if it's a good thing that there's less residue creating less poop, of course. Right now I'm feeding him half of the suggested amount of the raw lamb and half of the suggested daily amount of Origen. I'm doing this partially because I think the dry food is probably better for keeping his teeth clean. Luckily, he eats the raw first because he apparently prefers it and them eats the dry. I feed him half and half at the same meal twice a day.

As always Nature's Variety is a wonderful choice. This is definitely the best food I've found for my dog, just wish it was not this expensive.

My two dogs (boxers) love this food. I give them each a half a patty every other day and just decrease their dry food by 1 cup. They scarf this down and I feel better supplementing their processed food with something REAL! We haven't had any digesting upset with this slow switch.

Nature's Variety - Raw Frozen Beef Dog & Cat Food

Your pets are meat eaters, so raw food is the most instinctive and natural form of nutrition they can eat. A diet consisting of raw, fresh meat, organs, ground bone, and fat reflects what they would eat in nature. With natural proportions of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, proteins, and amino acids, raw diets provide wholesome nutrition for the health of your pets. The natural results of such high quality nutrition include increased energy, toned muscles, and a soft, glossy coat!

We can only ship frozen food on Monday. Orders received after 12:00 Noon CST on Monday will be shipped the following Monday.

Started my 9 year old Cocker Spaniel on Nature's Variety Freeze Dried Raw products a few years ago as a way to ease her allergies. She gets 2 for breakfast with some kibble & cleans her bowl.

This stuff is fabulous; I have 3 cats, one of whom weighed 24lbs and truly needed to lose weight. They have all been on this since about May 2008. Fat Sham is now down to 18lbs 4.5oz. The other 2 have lost some weight too. And this with no portion control at all. Their coats are amazing and they very rarely throw up at all anymore. It's expensive, but it's worth it.

5. Gail on 12/25/2008, said:

Our cat loves this flavor! She loves the juice that is in it. One problem I have noticed with this flavor in the cans is the pop open top of the can breaks off before you can get it open(so you have to use a can opener). None of the other flavors have done that. It has happened to about 30% of the cans we have purchased in only this flavor.

I have a kitty who needs "alternative proteins" (duck, rabbit, etc) and seems to do much better without the addition of grains. I've bought this product for over two years now and Cassidy does GREAT on it (plus she hasn't gotten sick of it!).

My cats don't really like this variety of Instinct very well. They prefer the chicken & turkey flavor the best.

3. Carol on 8/18/2008, said:

It was not a good choice for me. My cat refuses to eat it. She has health issues, so I cannot afford to try to "wait her out" to get her to eat this food. I gave it away to a local animal rescue group. I'm sure it is a fine product, but just didn't work for us.

Older cat on new novel protein diet. Refuses prescription diet canned foods. Is only non-fish brand and flavor she will eat.

2. Berice on 2/17/2009, said:

They liked other flavors of instict a little better

3. Silke on 1/26/2009, said:

This product has very little gravy with it in comparison to the chicken variety. So I need to add some water with it. Otherwise the food is well eaten.

4. Cynthia on 1/8/2009, said:

All six of my cats love this food. One would only eat dry at first, but after a couple of days of picking at it, he has no hesitation with it at all. It has helped litter box cleanup (very little odor) and stools are formed and solid. Two of my cats have digestive problems and I'd been trying different foods. This was the first grain free food I've tried. I have attempted to mix in the dry kibble, same brand, but their digestion isn't handling it as well...someone told me it might be the extra vitamin E used as a preservative in the dry. Don't know for sure but once I removed the dry, digestion cleared right up.

5. Sandi on 10/16/2008, said:

My indoor cats did not like it, but my ourdoor cats did.
